MLB Victis

Keeping fans in the stands.

We were contacted in late 2012 by a collective of agents and technologists, all of whom were close to the MLB. They knew they wanted to build a native iOS app centered around predictive gaming in baseball, but beyond that, they were eager to develop the idea with us.

We were given soup to nuts control, from early design discovery through to app store submission. We’d built iOS apps before, but this was a different beast — this called for an entire service layer charged with parsing MLB’s seemingly endless stream of data, while simultaneously displaying it in real-time in the app.

Making magic with (J)Ruby

To make this ambitious app a reality, we knew it had to be fast and reliable, so we used mature and proven technologies to craft a highly concurrent and self-healing system. By ignoring trends and embracing pragmatism, we were able achieve stunning performance and efficiency — all while making the app exceptionally simple to maintain.

The result? An app that kept on perfect pace with the game's action, even if you were watching at the ballpark.
